State study: Legalization of pot in Washington would raise $560 million a year

A new state study says that legalizing marijuana in Washington would raise $560 million a year in new tax revenue. “It’s wonderful news,” former Seattle Police Chief Norm Stamper and supporter of Initiative 502 said Thursday. “Needless to say, when it comes to taking money out of the black market, pumping that money into prevention and education, to teachers and police officers and so forth, (it) makes infinite good sense.”
